krx: Kortex tools on the command line

Last updated: October 7, 2026

krx is a small free program that installs and runs the simplest Kortex tools in a terminal. They give exactly the same results as the web pages, work offline once installed, and never send your data: everything happens on your computer.

Install krx

macOS and Linux (terminal)

curl -fsSL https://kortex.site/install.sh | sh

Windows (PowerShell)

irm https://kortex.site/install.ps1 | iex

The script detects your system, downloads the right program, checks its SHA-256 fingerprint, installs it in the .kortex folder of your home directory and adds it to your PATH. No administrator rights are needed. Then open a new terminal.

Use a tool

Install the tools you need, then run them by name. Each one shows its help with --help.

krx install tva pourcentage hash
krx tva 100
krx pourcentage evolution 80 100
krx hash "bonjour" --algo sha256

Available tools

More tools will follow. The command krx search always lists the current ones.

Security and privacy

  • Each tool runs in an isolated engine, with no network access and no access to your files except the one you point it to.
  • The list of tools is signed by Kortex (Ed25519 signature) and each tool is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint, at installation and at every run: a modified tool is refused.
  • krx only goes online when you install, update or search for a tool. It sends no statistics and no usage data.

Uninstall

Remove a tool with krx remove tva. To remove krx and all its tools, delete the .kortex folder in your home directory.

Good to know

  • The programs are not signed by Apple or Microsoft: that is why installation goes through a script, which avoids the macOS and Windows warnings.
  • On Windows, run krx from PowerShell or Windows Terminal (Windows 10 or later).
  • Regulated tools (such as VAT) show the date their rates were checked: make sure it is recent and update with krx update.
